Matteo Serena, Ph.D.Senior Manager of Irrigation Research and Services

 A native of Italy, Matteo received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Padua. He then earned his Ph.D. from New Mexico State University, where he continued as a research assistant professor until joining the University of California-Riverside, where he was responsible for the water and salinity management program for turfgrass in California. Matteo is based in Southern California.

As senior manager of irrigation research and services, Dr. Matteo Serena is an important part of the Green Section research team. He’s working and engaging with golf courses, public and industry scientists, allied golf associations, and other stakeholders to advance water conservation on golf courses throughout the USA. Matteo has over a decade of experience researching turfgrass irrigation and water conservation strategies.
