2020 U.S. Open: Volunteer Committees
1895 & Trophy Club (100% Full)
Check fans for proper tickets or credentials when entering the 1895 & Trophy Club and manage a concierge desk to assist fans in the enjoyment of the championship as well as their visit to the greater Mamaroneck, NY area.
19th Hole Marshals (100% Full)
Support the Marshals & Grandstand Marshals Committees with additional volunteers as needed throughout the championship grounds, by assuming similar responsibilities.
Admissions (100% Full)
Check fans for proper tickets or credentials when entering admission gates. Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:00 a.m. EST.
Ball Position (100% Full)
Assist through the use of computer-operated laser-measuring devices to determine ball position information to record various aspects of player statistics, including but not limited to club selection, drive distance and distance to hole. May require the ability to climb ladders and operate from elevated platforms. Previous experience, familiarity with technology and strong golf knowledge preferred. This committee also requires additional training during practice rounds.
Caddie Services (100% Full)
Guide caddies through the registration process and provide needed information and equipment for the championship.
Corporate Hospitality (100% Full)
Assist at admission points for hospitality locations, provide information to clients and assist them with business functions as needed in their hospitality villages and areas.
Course Evacuation (100% Full)
Responsible for evacuating players and designated officials off the course by driving vehicles to a predetermined area when play is suspended. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
Disability Services (100% Full)
Assist and transport fans with disabilities to various points and viewing areas on the championship grounds via golf carts and monitor use of wheelchair seating in designated viewing areas. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
Fan Services (100% Full)
Manage information tents that will assist fans in the enjoyment of the championship as well as their visit to the greater Mamaroneck, NY area.
Grandstand Marshals (100% Full)
Assist at the entrances and exits to the grandstands, monitoring capacity and assisting in gallery control. May have to climb stairs and will be required to walk to assigned hole and stand for entire shift.
Leader Boards (100% Full)
Update on-course Leader Boards and thru boards with scores of the leaders and players in the championship. May have to climb ladders and operate from elevated platforms.
Marshals (100% Full)
Assist in gallery control, facilitating player movement and helping locate errant shots. Will be required to walk to assigned hole and stand for entire shift.
Merchandise
Assist in the fast-paced, air-conditioned, 37,000 sq. ft Merchandise Pavilion, where you’ll be assigned to one of many merchandising functions such as cashier, vendor support, product return and more. You’ll work alongside USGA staff, interns, volunteers and golf apparel vendors.
On-Course Distribution (100% Full)
Deliver printed materials, drinking water and other supplies to various facilities via golf carts. May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds). Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:00 a.m. EST. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
Practice Areas (100% Full)
Assist with the management of the practice driving range, short game area and putting green.
Standard Bearers (Ages 14 through 21 ONLY) (100% Full)
Carry a scoring sign (standard) with each group during the championship. Will be required to walk 18 holes. This committee has a very limited number of positions available and is expected to fill quickly on a first-come, first-served basis. Ability to navigate 18 holes and follow players on foot is required.
USGA Fan Clubhouse (100% Full)
Staff the admission point for the USGA Fan Clubhouse to greet fans and check tickets and/or credentials.
Volunteer Services (100% Full)
Provide information to volunteers and manage the Volunteer Hospitality and Headquarters area.
