Director Southeast Region |
Foy is Director of the USGA Green Section's Southeast Region. He is responsible for making Course Consulting visits to courses in Florida and the Caribbean Islands. Prior to becoming Regional Director,, Foy served as an agronomist for the Southeast Region for five years. He has made more than 3,000 Course Consulting Service visits to golf courses across the country.
In addition to making Course Consulting visits, he has written many turf related articles for various magazines, makes presentations annually to golf industry groups, and works with the Florida Turfgrass Association and the Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association.
Since joining the Green Section, Foy has assisted in preparation of Southeast golf courses that host USGA National Championships. Also, since 2001, he has served as the championship agronomist for the International Golf Federation and assisted in advanced and daily course preparations for the World Amateur Team Championships.
John graduated from the University of Georgia with a Masters of Plant Protection and Pest Management in 1980. He has a B.S. in Agriculture, also from the University of Georgia, where he graduated Cum Laude.
