Temperature is the major driver of turf growth and influences putting green turf quality considerably – regardless of turfgrass species. Periodically throughout the year, and especially at the end of each year, it is helpful to compare current temperature and precipitation trends to multiyear averages. Simply tracking how recent temperatures compare to normal averages can give superintendents and golfers insight as to why positive or negative events occurred.
