A Guide To Creating The USGA Putting Green

By USGA

| Sep 18, 2015

For more than 40 years the USGA recommendations for green construction have been the most widely used method of green construction throughout the United States and in other parts of the world. When built and maintained properly, USGA greens have provided consistently good results for golf courses over a period of many years. These guidelines are periodically reviewed and updated as a result of scientific research and as new techniques and materials are proven reliable.

This document specifically represents the USGA Green Section's recommendations for green construction. It does not include a discussion of construction techniques or methods. Additional documents are available from the USGA that describe construction methods, offering tips for success and providing guidance for green management.

What Are Green Section Collections?

A new feature to the USGA Green Section Record in 2015 now includes an interactive digital collection of supporting materials. In addition to the monthly major article, each digital collection includes supporting articles, a photo gallery and videos that provide additional, relevant information on the subject. The collections can be viewed online in a user-friendly digital magazine format, saved as a PDF or printed. We hope you find this new feature to be an extremely useful resource.
