Meentemeyer joined the USGA in May 2015 as an agronomist in the West Region based in Santa Ana, Calif., working with Pat Gross, Larry Gilhuly and Brian Whitlark. He conducts Course Consulting Service visits in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Blake has both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois and has expertise in soil nitrogen and fertility management.

Prior to joining the staff, he was the golf course superintendent at Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego. He supervised the staff in all aspects of turf management and course preparation for over 60,000 rounds of golf per year and successfully hosted the 2014 and 2015 Farmers Insurance Opens. Previously, he was the assistant superintendent at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles where he demonstrated a passion for course conditioning.

He was born and raised on his family’s 600 acre grain farm in southern Illinois where he knew early on that he was destined for a career in agronomy.
