From Sept. 9 to 12, 2013, the Florida Turfgrass Association (FTGA) is hosting the 61 st Annual Conference and Show in Orlando. The FTGA works to promote research and education as well as to create legislative power to support the turfgrass industry in Florida.
On Tuesday, Sept. 10th, the four USGA Green Section staff and Dr. John Sorochan of the University of Tennessee will anchor the Golf Course Management education track, one of six full-day education sessions offered on this day. The presentations are as follows:
- Do I Rebuild or Just Resurface – How Do You Know? – Charles “Bud” White, director, Mid-Continent Region, USGA Green Section
- Practical Guide to Soil Test Interpretation – Brian Whitlark, agronomist, Southwest Region, USGA Green Section
- Off-Types in Ultradwarfs – What They Are and What To Do About Them – Todd Lowe, senior agronomist, Florida Region, USGA Green Section
- Ultradwarf Putting Green Management – Dr. John Sorochan, University of Tennessee
- Water – Our Most Precious Resource and How We Can Reduce Its Use – Brian Whitlark
- Ultradwarfs Managed Belowground – Bud White
- Tools for Day-to-day Course Management – John Foy, Todd Lowe, Bud White, Brian Whitlark
- Winter Season Management – John H. Foy, director, Florida Region, USGA Green Section
In addition to the Golf Course Management track, the five other education tracks are:
- Golf BMP Workshop
- Sod Production
- Landscape and Lawn Care
- Sports Turf Management
- Ornamental & Turf Pesticide Licensing Review & Exam
As you can see, education tracks were designed for all areas of the turfgrass industry.
