Save The Date: 66th Annual Southeast Turfgrass Conference Set For April 23rd And 24th

Dr. Brian Schwartz is the leader of the UGA-Tifton breeding team and the conference chairman for the 66th Southeast Turfgrass Conference at Tifton, GA. His bermudagrass and zoysiagrass breeding programs are positioned to bring new turfgrass varieties to the market in future years.

Plans are set for the 66th Annual Southeast Turfgrass Conference on April 23 - 24th at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center. Co-sponsors of this meeting include the USGA Green Section, UGA Extension, USDA, ABAC, GTA, GGCSA, and the UGA Coastal Plain Experiment Station. This meeting will be enjoyable for anyone associated with golf including superintendents, club managers, golf professionals, golf course owners, architects, Green and Golf Committees, and any golfer interested in the topics. This year’s format will be a little different. We begin with a dinner on April 23rd and have a meeting and tour of turf plots on April 24th.

April 23rd – Turf Tour and Dinner at Pike Creek Turfgrass Nursery

April 24th – Meeting at UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center 

The meeting will be held at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center, Tifton, GA and the registration fee is $100 (payment by April 10th) or $125 (payment after April 10th).  The meeting features many distinguished speakers:

April 24th - Research Tour – UGA Tifton Station 

Also on April 24th, all the attendees are welcome to come out and see the latest research on warm-season turfgrasses. Tours will be conducted at the Research Plots starting at 3:00 p.m. and the discussions will include: 

Eric Elsner – UGA Tifton – Zoysiagrass Breeding and Bermudagrass Evaluation 

Austin Grimshaw – UGA Tifton – Herbicide Resistance in Bermudagrass: Development and Evaluation 

Trent Tate – UGA Griffin – Evaluation of Turfgrass and Weeds for Resistance to ACCase Inhibiting Herbicides
