The Mississippi State sophomore played bogey-free golf to earn medalist honors April 28 in DeKalb, Ill., posting a 7-under total of 139. This will be her first U.S. Women’s Open start. Daniel and her mother, Kay, also a past Mississippi State golfer, became the first mother-daughter duo to make match play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball (2019). Daniel helped the Bulldogs finish second in the SEC Championship in April. The Covington, La., native led MSU in scoring average (74.5) in 2020-21. Seven years ago, while posing for pictures on a platform with her high school volleyball teammates, Daniel fell 10 feet to the ground and broke her right arm in four places. Doctors feared she never would play sports again. Daniel overcame the setback to win a high school state golf title and state junior championship.
