Stephenson will make her fourth U.S. Women's Open start and second as a professional. Before turning professional, she played a memorable 30-hole quarterfinal match in the 2017 U.S. Women’s Amateur, losing on the 12th extra hole to 13-year-old Chia Yen Wu. It was the longest 18-hole match in USGA history. The next year, she lost another extra-hole match in the semifinals to Jiwon Jeon. Stephenson played one season at Clemson before transferring to Alabama for her final two seasons (she turned pro after her junior year). She was a member of the victorious 2018 USA Curtis Cup Team and won the 2018 Golfstat Cup as the nation’s leading scorer with a school-record 69.76 stroke average.
