Munoz, who is making her 13th consecutive start in the U.S. Women’s Open by virtue of sharing medalist honors on May 11 with fellow Spaniard Maria Parra (5-under 139) at Banyan Cay Resort & Country Club , owns six worldwide victories. Her lone LPGA Tour triumph came in the Sybase Match Play Championship over Candie Kung, 2 and 1. Her other five victories have come on the Ladies European Tour. Munoz enjoyed a stellar amateur/college career that saw her claim the 2008 NCAA Division I title in a playoff over UCLA’s Tiffany Joh. Her bid for that year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur crown ended in the 36-hole final to Amanda Blumenherst at Eugene (Ore.) Country Club. She also represented Spain in the 2008 Women’s World Amateur Team Championship. In 2014, she tied for fourth in the KPGM Women’s PGA Championship and shared seventh in the ANA Inspiration. She is a four-time European Solheim Cup competitor.
