Ewing (nee McDonald), who is making her sixth U.S. Women's Open start, has now won on the LPGA Tour on her wedding anniversary and birthday. Ewing defeated reigning British Women's Open champion Sophia Popov, 2 and 1, in the 18-hole championship match. She celebrated her 28th birthday last Oct. 25 by registering her maiden LPGA Tour victory at the inaugural Drive On Championship, becoming the first Mississippi State alum to win on the circuit. Ewing held off major champion Danielle Kang by one stroke. Before her win, Ewing was best known for being a last-minute substitute to the 2019 USA Solheim Cup Team to replace an injured Stacy Lewis. She finished second on the Symetra Tour money list in 2016 to earn her LPGA Tour card for the 2017 season. In 2019, she tied for 10th in the U.S. Women’s Open and tied for sixth in the ANA Inspiration. As an amateur, Ewing advanced to the semifinals of the 2010 U.S. Girls’ Junior and played on the victorious 2014 USA Curtis Cup Team.
