Schmelzel will make her third consecutive U.S. Women’s Open start after shooting 12-under 132 to earn medalist honors on May 13 at Superstition Mountain in Arizona. Schmelzel came back from a missed cut in her debut in 2019 to tie for 23rd last December at Champions Golf Club. She began her professional career on the Symetra Tour in 2018, recording seven top-10 finishes to finish 13th on the money list. She then qualified for the LPGA Tour in 2019 via the inaugural Q Series. Her best finish in 2021 is a tie for sixth in the LOTTE Championship in Hawaii.
