Scavo will make her second U.S. Women’s Open start after earning medalist honors on April 26 with a 1-over-par 143. Scavo qualified for the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open at age 16 but missed the cut at Pinehurst. Since turning professional in 2019, she has posted a pair of victories on the satellite Cactus Tour, both in 2019. At the University of Oregon, Scavo was a first-team Pacific-12 All-Academic selection in 2019, the same year she tied for 23rd at the NCAA Championships. The two-time AJGA All-American advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2013 U.S. Girls’ Junior, losing to eventual runner-up Lakareber Abe. The Benicia, Calif., resident also advanced to the Round of 16 of the inaugural U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball in 2015 at Bandon Dunes with partner Lucy Li, a fellow 2021 U.S. Women’s Open qualifier from Half Moon Bay. She twice captured the California Girls’ Junior title. Her brother-in-law is current Oregon men’s golf coach and two-time U.S. Open qualifier at The Olympic Club, Casey Martin.
