The Lancaster, Ohio, native will make her second U.S. Women’s Open start after a 12-year absence. She tied for 65th as an amateur in 2009 at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa. White was the medalist in the May 4 qualifier in Pittsburgh, posting 5-under-par 137. White has played the Symetra Tour off and on since 2013. After transferring from Ohio State to North Carolina, White helped the Tar Heels win the Atlantic Coast Conference title in 2011. Two years earlier, she won the Ohio State Women’s Amateur. Her family owns a farm in Lancaster and she occasionally returns to assist her parents. She also spent time as an assistant coach at Ohio University while pursuing a master’s degree in journalism. During winter breaks from the tour, she also worked as a substitute teacher. White is best known on tour for her tall socks and farmer’s hat.
