Additionally, more than 2,000 volunteers are needed to fill positions on 19 committees, including merchandise, leaderboards, ball position, and courtesy cars. Early submission of the application allows volunteers to specify their committee preference. Interested volunteers should visit, ussenioropen.com. A full description of committee responsibilities is provided on the website to assist volunteers in determining their preferences.
All volunteers are required to purchase a uniform package for $95. Complimentary food, snacks and beverages will also be provided for volunteer shifts. Volunteers will also have access to the volunteer hospitality tent on the days they volunteer and are asked to work four shifts ranging from five to six hours throughout the championship.
The 10th Hole Chalet and the Champions Club are a few of the hospitality options that remain. The 10th Hole Chalet is a climate-controlled 800-foot enclosed tent structure with access to 25-50 tickets each day of the championship. The Champions Club is a shared venue with access to a reserved table inside the clubhouse and 15 tickets each day, Wednesday-Sunday.
The U.S. Senior Open will be hosted by Omaha Country Club for the second time. In 2013, Kenny Perry won by carding a 7-under-par 63 in the final round. Perry’s 72-hole score of 13-under 267 was five strokes ahead of runner-up Fred Funk (272). Omaha Country Club has been the site of 16 Nebraska State Amateurs. Johnny Goodman, an Omaha native and the last amateur to win the U.S. Open, in 1933, won the second of his three consecutive state amateur titles at the club in 1930.
The U.S. Senior Open Championship, for golfers age 50 and older, is open to any professional and any amateur with a Handicap Index® not exceeding 3.4.
