VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES

Access Control Committee:

The Access Control Committee assists with access to various championship areas and facilities by checking for proper tickets and credentials.

Admissions & Fan Services:

Check fans for proper tickets or credentials when entering admission gates and manage fan service booths that will assist fans in the enjoyment of the championship as well as their visit to the greater San Francisco, Calif., area. Morning shifts may begin as early as 5 a.m. PDT.

Ball Position:

Assist through the use of computer-operated laser-measuring devices in determining ball position information to record various aspects of player statistics, including but not limited to club selection, drive distance and distance to hole. May require the ability to climb ladders and operate from elevated platforms. Additional training and time commitments may also apply. Previous experience, familiarity with technology and strong golf knowledge preferred. This committee also requires additional training during practice rounds.

Caddie Services:

Guide caddies through the registration process and provide needed information and equipment for the championship.

Disability Services:

Assist and transport fans with disabilities to various points and viewing areas on the championship grounds via golf carts. Monitor use of wheelchair seating in designated Grandstand viewing areas. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.

Leader Boards:

Update on-course leader boards and thru boards with scores of the leaders and players in the championship. May require the ability to climb ladders and operate from elevated platforms.

Marshals:

Assist in gallery control, facilitating player movement and helping locate errant shots. Will be required to walk to assigned hole and stand for entire shift. May have to climb stairs.

Merchandise:

Assist USGA staff with various functions inside the merchandise facilities, including but not limited to baggers, cashiers, customer service representatives, stockers, greeters, and entrance and exit monitors.

On-Course Distribution:

Deliver via golf carts printed materials, drinking water and other supplies to various facilities. May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds). Morning shifts may begin as early as 5 a.m. PDT. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.

Practice Areas:

Assist with the management of the practice driving range, short game area and putting green.

Standard Bearers (Ages 14 through 21 ONLY):

Carry a scoring sign (standard) with each group during the championship. Will be required to walk 18 holes. This committee has a very limited number of positions available and is expected to fill quickly on a first-come, first-served basis. Ability to navigate 18 holes and follow players on foot is required.

Volunteer Services:

Provide information to volunteers and manage the Volunteer Hospitality and Headquarters area.
