Meet the Quarterfinalists of the 2010 APL

Josh Anderson, 21, of Murrieta, Calif., is an incoming junior at Pepperdine University. Anderson was the 2007 California State Amateur Champion. He was co-medalist at the 2010 General Jim Hackler Intercollegiate and runner-up at the 2009 Pacific Northwest Amateur.

Harris English, 20, of Athens, Ga., will be a senior at the University of Georgia and is a three-time All-American selection, earning third-team honors in 2008 and 2009 and second-team honors in 2010. He won the 2009 Olympia Fields Invitational and the 2010 Morris Williams Intercollegiate this past season.

Wesley Graham, 20, of Port Orange, Fla., was semifinalist at the 2007 U.S. Junior Amateur and a quarterfinalist in 2006. The two-time AJGA/Rolex All-American selection (2006, 2007) helped Florida State to a third-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Championship, the highest finish in the school’s history. He will be a junior at Florida State University this fall.

Lion Kim, 21, of Ann Arbor, Mich., will be a senior at the University of Michigan this fall. Kim’s given name is Jun Min, but Lion is a nickname given to him by his parents. He was a 2010 second-team All-Big Ten Conference selection, after being an honorable mention All-American selection in 2009. A three-time participant in the U.S Amateur (2006, 2007, 2008), Kim played in 2009 U.S. Amateur Public Links, advancing to the Round of 32.

David McDaniel, 25, of Tucson, Ariz., is a recent graduate of Northern Arizona University. He won the 2009 Arizona Amateur, the 2010 Arizona Publinks Championship and finished fourth at the 2010 Arizona Open.

Kevin Phelan, 19, of St. Augustine, Fla., played in the 2010 U.S. Open but missed the cut. Phelan owns dual citizenship in the USA and Ireland. He was born in New York City, where his father played professional squash, and moved to Ireland at the age of 3, living there until age 12. He will be a sophomore at the University of North Florida this fall.

Darren Wallace, 21, of Canada, is a recent graduate of the University of Washington. Wallace won the 2004 Canadian Amateur at age 15, becoming the event’s youngest winner, and the individual title at the 2009 Pac-10 Conference Championship. He was a third-team All-American selection in 2009.

Chris Williams, 19, of Moscow, Idaho, earned the 2010 Phil Mickelson Award, presented to the outstanding freshman in NCAA Division I men’s golf and was named 2010 Pac-10 Conference Freshman of the Year. Williams, a rising sophomore at the University of Washington, tied for medalist honors twice, at the 2010 Battle at the Beach and the 2010 ASU Thunderbird Invitational.
