Paul G. Brown

USGA Executive Committee

Paul G. Brown, of Brookeville, MD., is in his fifth year on the USGA Executive Committee.

He has four decades of experience in the commercial banking industry serving senior, executive, and C-Suite roles in community and regional banks in the mid-Atlantic region.  Brown co-founded Howard Bank in Maryland serving as the Chief Lending, Credit and Client Services Officer for 11 years as the bank grew to $1 Billion in assets.  He has assisted other community banks in creating strategic plans and leading turnaround situations during his career.

Brown has served as an official at over 50 USGA championships – including 11 US Opens – as well as the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, the Masters, the PGA Championship, and the 2020 Women’s Olympic Golf Competition in Tokyo.  He is a past instructor in the USGA/PGA Rules Workshops.  Brown served on the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship Committee for 16 years and is a past President of both the Middle Atlantic Golf Association and the Washington Metropolitan Golf Association.

He has served in various board leadership positions over a 10-year period for several educational organizations in Maryland and is a graduate of Leadership Maryland.

Brown earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Bucknell University.

In 2022, Brown will chair the Amateur Status (JASC) and Investment Committees and serve on the Rules of Golf (JRC) Committee.
