USGA Directly Authorized Golf Club Application

This online application is available only to a Type 2 or Type 3 golf club that is not directly affiliated with the authorized golf association having geographic jurisdiction in its area.

All golf clubs are required to review the Terms of Agreement before submission of the application. Note: After the golf club has been approved, a $100.00 processing fee per application will be invoiced to the golf club after the approval process has been completed. In addition, the golf club will be required to enter into the USGA’s Directly Authorized Club Agreement, which requires the payment of a per golfer fee for handicap computation and administrative oversight.


Please review the following before completing the online application. Does your golf club:

1.Meet the Definition of a Type 2 or Type 3 "Golf Club?"

A "golf club" is an organization of at least ten individual members that operates under bylaws with committees (especially a handicap committee) to supervise golf activities, provide peer review, and maintain the integrity of the Rules of Handicapping.

2. Have a Handicap Committee composed mostly of members which should be chaired by a member? The chair must also reside within a 100 mile radius of the club.

3. Have a club representative that has participated in a Rules of Handicapping Seminar (whether conducted by an authorized golf association or completed online) including passing a test exhibiting knowledge about the Rules?
