World Handicap System (WHS) Background and Overview
Q. What are the benefits of the World Handicap System™?
A. As the world becomes a smaller place with a much greater frequency of international play (as demonstrated by golf returning to the Olympics in 2016), we believe a single handicap system results in easier administration of international events. In addition, it provides a single calculation for measuring a golfer’s ability and allows for scores to be posted from anywhere – domestically and abroad. We believe that, potentially, this allows National Associations more opportunities to focus attention on golf development and strategic planning to support the game. It also provides the opportunity to evaluate depersonalized golfing data to help monitor the health of the game.
