Craig Annis

Chief Brand Officer

Craig Annis joined the USGA in March of 2017 to oversee a broad-based communications strategy for the Association. He was promoted to Chief Brand Officer in January 2020. With an impactful leadership style, Craig has the ability to develop and grow capabilities and motivate others to get behind company directive and direction to create a positive effect on engagement and business growth.

In his communications role, he led a growing team of professionals tasked with managing the USGA’s communications, media relations, website content, social media strategy, reputation management, public relations and community relations programs, including strategies for the U.S. Open Championship.

Prior to joining the USGA, Annis had a distinguished 11-year career at Mars, Incorporated where he held several senior roles. Most recently, Craig served as the Global Vice President of Corporate Affairs with Mars Food. He oversaw the function for the $1.5 billion-plus global division, working across 30 markets to drive business performance and enhance brand reputation. He created and implemented innovative health and wellbeing and sustainability strategies, which contributed to growth, generated positive and invaluable media recognition and shareholder validation, and assisted in attracting top talent to the company.

Annis helped the Corporate Affairs function enhance its business impact and gain external notoriety as an industry-leading function in the CPG space.  Beyond his functional role, Annis served as a member of the Mars Food strategy team, which set the organic and inorganic ambition for the business and has also played an integral role in developing and evolving the operating model.

Craig previously served as Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Latin America, Africa, India and the Middle East, Global Director of Corporate Responsibility and as Director of Government & Public Affairs, North America.

Annis received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire. He is also a graduate of the IMD Business School’s Strategy for Growth Program.
