Dr. Ali Harivandi, a regional Environmental Horticulturist specializing in Turf, Soil and Water, joined the University of California Cooperative Extension in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1980. He holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in turfgrass management from Colorado State University, where he was a Research and Teaching Associate while completing his graduate studies. He has published extensively in both the scientific and popular press. He is a frequent speaker at scientific and professional meetings and a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America's Technical/Resource Advisory Committee.
Among his professional awards and honors are: The 1982 and 1992 Northern California Turf and Landscape Council's "Research and Education Award;" the 1990 Golf Course Superintendents Association of Northern California's "Distinguished Service Award;" and the 1999 University of California Cooperative Extension's "Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Research."
