Tee Leveling Case Study No. 1

by Tommy Burnside (Burnside Services Inc) and James F. Moore (USGA)
Unlevel tees are a sore point with golfers of all calibers. As this case study illustrates, there is more to leveling a tee than simply removing the sod and adding a little soil. Although tees can be successfully leveled in-house, to do the job right requires a great deal of time and labor. As a result, more and more courses and superintendents are turning to golf course construction companies to accomplish this task. Using specialized equipment the work can be accomplished in much less time and usually yield a better finished product.

This case study graphically illustrates a method of tee leveling utilized by Mr. Tommy Burnside of Burnside Fumigation Services. Be sure to click on the thumbnail pictures to load a larger view of the image.
