Notice to Players

(This information supplements the Local Rules and Conditions of Competition for USGA Championships.)

Play-off to determine match play field - In the event of a tie for the last (64th) spot after 36 holes of stroke play qualifying, there will be a hole-by-hole play-off immediately upon the completion of the second round of qualifying. The play-off will commence at Hole #10 and continue on Holes #11, #17, & #18.

Extra hole matches on Wednesday and Thursday, August 6 & 7, shall continue from Hole #1. Extra hole matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 8, 9 & 10, shall continue on to Holes #10, #11, #17 & #18, to accommodate TV.

Out of bounds is defined by white stakes, the fence posts of split rail and chain link fences, and the white line around the clubhouse.

Boulders adjacent to bunker to the left of Hole #17 - The Committee has made a Local Rule clarifying that these boulders are not part of the bunker.

Old stone walls, behind Hole #14 putting green and on Holes #15 & #16, are deemed to be integral parts of the course.

Stone wall, wooden fence and rock curbing adjacent to cart paths are deemed to be part of the cart paths, thus they are treated as the same obstruction.

Half-way house and the adjacent cart paths, curbed planted areas and side-walks behind Hole #10 putting green are deemed one obstruction.

Tents on the members' practice tee, yellow "shelter" signs, cameras on tripods, tripods without cameras, mini-cams on tripods, microphones, cable, "spider" vehicles and jib cranes are movable obstructions.

Protective screen on Hole #6 - Note 3 to Rule 24-2b is in effect. A player taking relief from this immovable obstruction must determine the nearest point of relief without crossing over, through or under the obstruction.

Birdhouses are immovable obstructions.

Wood chips and mulch are loose impediments. When applied to a road or path, the road or path is an immovable obstruction.

Turquoise mulch granules are deemed to be loose impediments.

Turf plugs on the putting green which are not 4 1/4 inches in diameter or are not circular may be repaired under Rule 16-1c.

Ground under repair may include areas of unusual damage including areas where spectators or other traffic have combined with wet conditions to materially affect the ground surface, but only when so declared by a rover or referee.

Temporary Immovable Obstructions:

Tee signs, concession tents, concession trailer, starters' and scorers' tents, porta-johns, scoreboard, TV compounds, TV towers, ladder truck and tethered RF balloon are temporary immovable obstructions.

Television towers with a white painted line along the front edge of the tower - this line indicates the front of the tower. A ball on or behind this line is deemed to be in the obstruction.

Hole #2 Porta-johns to the left of the drive zone - A player having interference may drop the ball on the right, even if the nearest point of relief is on the left.
Hole #6 Television Tower behind putting green - A player having interference may drop the ball on the right, even if the nearest point is on the left.
Hole #9 Scorer's tent behind putting green - A player having interference may drop the ball on the right of the tent, even if the nearest point is on the left.

Television tower behind putting green - A player having interference may drop the ball on the left of the tower, even if the nearest point of relief is on the right.

Starter's tent on Hole #1 tee - A player having interference may drop the ball on the right of the tent, even if the nearest point is on the left.
Hole #10 Television tower behind putting green - A player having interference may drop the ball on the left of the tower, even if the nearest point of relief is on the right.
Hole #11 Television tower to the right of the putting green - A player having interference may drop the ball on the right of the tower, even if the nearest point of relief is on the left.
Hole #13 Television tower behind putting green - A player having interference may drop the ball on the area marked "Ball Drop" to the right of the tower.
