Far Hills, N.J. (June 27, 2012) – The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced today that all Grounds tickets for the championship rounds (Thursday-Sunday, June 13-16) of the 2013 U.S. Open Championship at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa., have sold out.
A limited number of premium Trophy Club and 1895 Club tickets remain for championship-round days. The Trophy Club and the 1895 Club will both be located at Haverford College, approximately 400 yards from the 18th hole at Merion Golf Club. The 1895 Club offers the convenience of an all-inclusive hospitality ticket featuring breakfast, a buffet lunch with hot entrees, afternoon snacks and beverages served throughout the day inside a comfortably decorated, air-conditioned pavilion with live U.S. Open television coverage. Trophy Club tickets provide access to a food court area in a sports-bar themed, air-conditioned pavilion offering a wide variety of food and beverage options at an additional charge.
Only 25,000 spectator tickets per day are being sold for the 2013 U.S. Open Championship, which is approximately 8,000 fewer than for this year’s championship, recently conducted at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. More than 230,000 people were in attendance this year, marking the 26th consecutive sellout of the championship, to watch Webb Simpson win his first U.S. Open title by one stroke over 2010 champion Graeme McDowell and Michael Thompson.
In addition to premium championship-round tickets, Grounds tickets are available for the practice-round days (Monday-Wednesday, June 10-12). Prices of available tickets start at $50 for daily practice-round tickets and range up to $385 for 1895 Club tickets on Sunday.
Each buyer is permitted to purchase up to four tickets for each day. Tickets include complimentary parking and shuttle transportation to and from the championship.
Junior tickets will be available on-site at Will Call and at all admission gates during the championship. Juniors age 12 and younger will be admitted free of charge any day when accompanied by an adult ticket holder. Tickets for juniors age 13 to 17 will be available for purchase at a reduced rate of $15 for practice rounds and $35 for championship rounds. There is a maximum of two junior tickets per one adult ticket holder. Junior tickets permit Trophy Club access only when accompanied by an adult Trophy Club ticket holder. Junior tickets do not permit 1895 Club access but 1895 Club tickets can be purchased for juniors.
Active military personnel may also pick up complimentary Grounds tickets for practice-round days at any Will Call location. Retired military personnel can purchase Grounds tickets for practice rounds on-site at any Will Call location at a reduced rate of $25 per ticket.
The 2013 U.S. Open Championship will mark the fifth time the championship has been played at Merion Golf Club, and the first time in 32 years. Past U.S. Open winners at Merion are Olin Dutra (1934), Ben Hogan (1950), Lee Trevino (1971) and David Graham (1981).
