Far Hills, N.J. — The Idaho Golf Association will join the
United States Golf Association's Golf Handicap and Information
Network® (GHIN) in 2008, becoming the 62nd state and regional
golf association to subscribe to the service. The IGA also becomes
the third golf association to join GHIN in the past year (Toledo
District Golf Association and Bermuda Golf Association).
"The Idaho Golf Association is looking forward to forming
an alliance with GHIN for handicapping needs," said Georgia
Hersh, the IGA's president. "We believe this will be a great
partnership for our association."
The IGA currently serves some 60 member clubs and 10,050 individual
members, but hopes to increase that number with what it believes
is an expanded array of products.
"We are very happy to have the Idaho Golf Association become
part of the GHIN service," said Steve Smyers, a USGA Executive
Committee member and chairman of the GHIN Committee. "After
it did an extensive review of its options in a very competitive
marketplace, we think it speaks volumes about what GHIN has done
in developing our products and services to assist and support
golf associations and its member clubs and golfers. We know IGA
will be very successful building their new member services centered
around GHIN and will be able to better service the game of golf
in Idaho."
Started in 1981 at the request of state and regional golf associations,
GHIN is the largest handicap computational service in the world
and provides a USGA Handicap Index® to more than 1.9 million
members at 10,400 clubs through 61 golf associations covering
42 states, Puerto Rico and Bermuda. It is an optional offering
for clubs that are affiliated with authorized golf associations
that choose to use the service and meet he policies of the USGA
Handicap System that allows all golfers to compete on a relatively
equal basis and enjoy a fair game.
