2008 U.S. Open Ticket Application Deadline August 15

Far Hills, N.J. – Ticket applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. (EDT) Wednesday, Aug. 15, by the United States Golf Association (USGA) for the 2008 U.S. Open Championship to be held June 9-15 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Calif.

At the end of the month, a random drawing will be conducted from among the applications received by the deadline and written notification will be mailed in Sept. 2007.

Ticket applications are available online at www.usga.org/tickets. A Trophy Club package for the week is $595. Weekly grounds packages are $400. Daily tickets are $40 for the practice rounds (Monday-Wednesday) and $100 for the championship days (Thursday-Sunday) A Practice Round ticket package is also available at $80. Tickets are limited.

The U.S. Open tickets have sold out for the past 21 years and undoubtedly will sell out again for 2008.

This will be the first U.S. Open to be held at Torrey Pines Golf Course..

The USGA is the national governing body of golf in this country and Mexico, a combined territory that includes more than half the game’s golfers and golf courses.

The Association's most visible role is played out each season in conducting 13 national championships, including the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Senior Open. Ten additional USGA national championships are exclusively for amateurs, and include the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Women's Amateur.

The USGA also writes the Rules of Golf, conducts equipment testing, maintains an official Handicap System and administers an ongoing "For the Good of the Game" grants program, which has allocated more than $56 million over 10 years to programs that seek to grow the game.
