USGA Releases Second Video On Golf Etiquette

Far Hills, N.J. - Capitalizing on its highly successful informational video on etiquette and fair play, the USGA has produced a new and improved "Spirit of the Game II" DVD, to be available to the public later this month. This 100-minute interactive DVD features thoughts on the game by golf professionals and celebrities, while addressing significant elements of proper behavior on the golf course in a creative, educational and fun manner that appeals to golfers of all ages.
Segments include a brief history of the game, as well as the evolution of golf in America, with primary features focusing on the principles of the game, care for the course, sportsmanship, etiquette and the USGA's Handicap System. Each section is broken down by two levels: basic information and additional details for golfers who want to acquire more knowledge about the game.
Actor and avid golfer John O'Hurley is among the celebrities appearing on-camera. The DVD also includes narration from Today Show co-host Matt Lauer, sports announcers Dan Hicks, Jennifer Mills, Jimmy Roberts and John Saunders, as well as two-time U.S. Women's Amateur champion and television golf announcer Kay Cockerill and 2002 USGA Bobby Jones Award recipient and television golf announcer Judy Rankin.
Special contributions, both on screen and in production, also came from PGA and LPGA teaching professionals throughout the United States, as well as individuals from the PGA Tour, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and other golf industry entities.
The original "Spirit of the Game" video was released by the USGA in 1998. Both programs were produced by Cowen Media, an Emmy award-winning company based in New Jersey. The genesis of the concept came from golf legend Arnold Palmer, who approached the USGA with the concept of an educational outreach program to better explain why etiquette on the golf course is important.
"The Spirit of the Game II" serves as an educational tool to the growing number of golfers, as well as to tournament volunteers, member clubs, club professionals, state and regional associations and the media.
