USGA Senior Amateur Sites Switch Years For 2008 And 2009

Far Hills, N.J.  - Far Hills, N.J. - The USGA Senior Amateur Championship sites for 2008 and 2009 have switched.

Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, originally scheduled as the site of the 2009 championship, will be the site in 2008, from Sept. 20-25. The Beverly Country Club in Chicago, Ill., which had been scheduled for 2008, will host the 2009 Senior Amateur from Sept.12-17.

The switch was made to allow course revisions at The Beverly Country Club to meet USGA course conditions specifications in a timely manner.

The 2007 USGA Senior Amateur will be played at Flint Hills National Golf Club in Andover, Kan., from Sept. 1-6. The Senior Amateur is open to amateurs, age 55 and older, who have a USGA Handicap Index® not exceeding 7.4.

The USGA is the national governing body of golf in this country and Mexico, a combined territory that includes more than half the game's golfers and golf courses. The Association's most visible role is played out each season in conducting 13 national championships, including the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Senior Open. Ten additional USGA national championships are exclusively for amateurs, and include the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Women's Amateur.

The USGA also writes the Rules of Golf, conducts equipment testing, maintains an official Handicap System and administers an ongoing "For the Good of the Game" grants program, which has allocated more than $53 million over 10 years to programs that seek to grow the game.
