Far Hills, N.J. - A one-hour highlight show looking back at
the 2006 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will air on NBC Sports
this Saturday (Aug. 5) from 5-6 p.m. EDT. Viewers in other time
zones should check their local listings for show times in their
area.
The program, narrated by Jimmy Roberts, is a comprehensive review
of the six-day competition won by 17-year-old Philip Francis of
Scottsdale, Ariz., who defeated 15-year-old Canadian-born Richard
Lee of Chandler, Ariz., in the 36-hole championship match on July
22, 3 and 2. It features contestant interviews, human-interest
stories and the memorable shots from the championship held at
historic Rancho Santa Fe (Calif.) Golf Club in northern San Diego
County.
Francis, a 2005 Junior quarterfinalist, entered the competition
as one of the favorites after picking up victories in several
other major junior events this year, including the prestigious
Thunderbird Invitational and Rolex Tournament of Champions, both
considered "majors" on the American Junior Golf Association
circuit.
