USGA Year-End Show To Air On The Golf Channel December 21

December 7, 2006

Far Hills, N.J. - The United States Golf Association's 13 national championships will be highlighted in a 60-minute television special to be broadcast on The Golf Channel at 8 p.m. (EST) Dec. 21. The show will be repeated at 2 p.m. and midnight on Dec. 22.

The "USGA National Championship Season Review" will be hosted by Steve Burkowski. Dottie Pepper will be the lead analyst. All 13 national champions from the 2006 season will be featured, with commentary from the network's announcers who were on site at each championship venue.

Reporters Brian Hammons, Rich Lerner, Steve Sands, Vince Cellini and David Marr add commentary to specific USGA championships they covered.

Some of the highlights include Annika Sorenstam's playoff win at the U.S. Women's Open and repeat victories for Allen Doyle at the U.S. Senior Open and Diane Lang at the USGA Senior Women's Amateur. And then there was the dramatic finish at the U.S. Open, where Phil Mickelson and Colin Montgomerie each took double bogey on the 72nd hole, opening the door for Geoff Ogilvy to claim the trophy.

Ten of the USGA 13 national championships are strictly for amateurs. For more information on USGA championships or results from the 2006 championship season, visit online at www.usga.org.
