U.S. Golf Tsunami Relief Fund Tops $1 Million Mark

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. -  The major U.S. golf organizations today announced that the joint relief fund, launched on Jan. 10 to help with recovery and rebuilding efforts following the catastrophic tsunami that ravaged 11 Pacific-rim nations last month, has raised more than $1 million.

The U.S. Golf Tsunami Relief Fund is working with the office of former President George Bush on the specific details concerning the disbursement of funds. Earlier this month, President George W. Bush appointed his father, former President George Bush, and his predecessor, former President Bill Clinton, to lead a nationwide charity fundraising drive. The two former Presidents taped a public service announcement supporting the U.S. Golf Tsunami Relief Fund that began airing in golf telecasts last weekend.

The contributions totaling more than $1 million have come from the PGA TOUR, the Masters Tournament, the United States Golf Association, The PGA of America, the LPGA, individual players, the TOUR Wives Association, tournaments and other contributors. 

Additionally, the Tiger Woods Foundation designated its relief efforts contribution to Give2Asia via the U.S. Golf Tsunami Relief Fund. The Tiger Woods Foundation and the U.S. Golf Tsunami Relief Fund selected two prospective grantees for support: The Rajaprajanugroh Foundation and the Holt Sahathai Foundation. Directed by local staff, Give2Asia will allocate support for critical interventions that will provide sanctuary for children.

Through the combined efforts of all involved, the U.S. Golf Tsunami Relief Fund hopes to generate $2 million for the cause. Tax-deductible contributions can be sent to:
