The official number of accepted entries is 8,726. This sets a new record for U.S. Open entries, eclipsing the old mark of 8,648 for the 2002 U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park.

Oldest Applicant: Of those who supplied their date of birth, Dick Lynch of Milwaukee, Wis., at 81 will be the oldest if he makes the Open field.
