Assistant Director of Rules & Competitions

Summary

The Assistant Director of Rules & Competitions is responsible for the NCGA/USGA/CGA qualifiers and championships as assigned. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Rules & Competitions works with the NCGA Men’s and Women’s Championships events, and the California Seniors and Seniors of Northern California organizations providing assistance with their tournaments and administration. Works independently with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the administration of NCGA, USGA and CGA events as assigned on an annual basis. This includes pre-tournament visits and preparation of player pairings, information sheets, local rules, committee assignments, course set-up and on-site supervision.
  • Responsible for the organization, administration and supervision of the NCGA Men’s and Women’s Championship events.
  • Responsible for the organization, administration and supervision of the California Seniors and Seniors of Northern California events.
  • Assists the Director of Education with rules seminars and tournament administration for Directors, committeemen, members and guests.
  • Answers rules questions and provides interpretations both verbally and written to NCGA members and other related organizations.
  • Assists the Director of Education in the evaluation of committeemen (volunteers).
  • Provides expertise and support to outside tournaments as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Rules & Competitions.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A strong attention to detail, a strong knowledge of golf tournament formats and rules of golf, good people skills, team player attitude, ability to handle several tasks simultaneously, strong communication and organizational skills, and a strong work ethic are required. Education and/or Experience

College degree and/or two to three years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other employees of the NCGA.



Computer/Business Machine Skills

Working knowledge of various computer software programs including Microsoft Word for Windows and Excel.



Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.



Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.



Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk on uneven ground. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision. The employee is occasionally required to lift 25 pounds. The employee is frequently indoors in a controlled environment with low noise levels and frequently in an outdoor, uncontrolled environment.
