Organization

Serving the New York metropolitan area for over 100 years, the WMGA is the second-oldest women’s golf association in the US, with more than 200 member clubs and approximately 2,400 individual members. Its mission is to foster good sportsmanship, good fellowship and friendly rivalry while encouraging and developing skilled amateur women golfers through individual competition and team play. It is also the USGA-sanctioned course rating authority for women throughout the metropolitan area.



Position Summary

Reporting to the WMGA’s President, the incumbent directs all tournament administration for the Association’s 30 competitions, including tournament and course set-up, on-line registration, on-site tournament administration, rules officiating and host club relations. Supports the efforts of the Board of Directors on intra- and inter-association team matches, junior golf, site selection, member services, course rating, website administration, media relations and financial functions. Identifies and develops relationships with corporate sponsors. Represents the WMGA on USGA and other golf-related committees.



Requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise in golf tournament administration including the Rules of Golf
  • Self-motivated, organized and willing to work flexible hours including occasional evenings
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office programs (ACCESS, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of Tournament Pairing Program and GHIN
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work with golfers of all ages, from seniors to juniors
  • Reliable transportation for travel throughout the tri-state area
