Position Summary: 

 

The Video Content Producer/Editor will be responsible for the creation and distribution of engaging video content to deliver the USGA brand through USGA digital channels (USGA websites, social media, mobile and other digital platforms). S/he must be an excellent storyteller who offers innovative and creative ideas that add value to projects and drives optimal audience engagement. This position will collaborate with communications staff members, USGA program managers, vendors, and other stakeholders to determine stories that are worthy of inclusion in video reports, including  championship and non-championship news and features. S/he will offer unique story ideas to the editorial planning process, enhance the quality and creativity of key projects, and help shape the USGA’s video content to reach a mass audience of golfers.  The ideal candidate is a solutions-oriented self-starter behind the camera and in the edit suite, who can keep the Association’s goals and mission in mind when developing content. The successful team member understands how to deliver a strong narrative to all platforms, including: web, social media, mobile devices, and broadcast.  Our candidate will have experience working in a dynamic environment, strong interpersonal and project management skills, and a passion for the game of golf.

 


Duties 

 

  • Create (write, produce, shoot, edit) video content for USGA.org, USOpen.com, mobile, social media and other digital platforms as well as content for broadcast use.  Collaborate with communications staff to determine stories that are worthy of inclusion in video reports, including both championship and non-championship news and features.  Keen eye and passion for packaging new and historic content effectively to create compelling multimedia pieces. S/he will often be responsible for all aspects of creating multimedia pieces, including:  
    • Concept development and brainstorming
    • Scripting
    • Screening
    • Editorial - picture and sound
    • Making revisions at stages as necessary
    • "Hands-on" editing of all projects on in-house edit suite
    • Work closely with in-house design teams to integrate graphics into spots as needed
    • Ability to finish videos for digital output (color correction/balance and sound design/audio mixing) including exports and compressing for Web
  •  Coordinate the operations of the creative services content studio, including:
    • Shoot video content as the sole camera(s), lighting and audio operator
    • Conduct interviews, and coach subjects in delivery as necessary
    • Running of inset studio interviews, enabling for live transmissions to broadcast sports and news outlets
    • Scheduling of resources and equipment
    • Optimize and upgrade infrastructure
  •  Execution and management of daily production and post-production tasks, editing and web deliverability to meet required deadlines.
  • Collaborate with video vendors and consultants
  • Media/Digital Asset Management of video and other files
  • Support Communications activities on-site at USGA championships, as requested
  • Collaborate with video archivist

 

 

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities 

 

  • Three to five years' experience in producing, editing and shooting
  • Proven knowledge of the entire video production process
  • Proficient with Final Cut, Avid, Adobe Premiere, etc. and have a working knowledge of other broadcast equipment
  • Proficient with ENG cameras, DSLR camera knowledge a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or other discipline emphasizing storytelling and multimedia content creation
  • A passion for interactive, multimedia storytelling
  • Strong broadcast and multimedia writing skills
  • Strong musical and audio sensibility
  • Must be detailed oriented and maintain high levels of quality control for various elements during productions, editing and final delivery of content
  • Highly energetic multi-taker, ability to meet ongoing deadlines, who rolls up his or her sleeves to get the job done
  • Easily embrace new production technologies
  • Knowledge of the game of golf, especially as it relates to USGA activities and mission

 


Additional Comments: 

  • Must be available to work during weekend and evening hours as needed
  • Must be willing to work extended hours during championship season, both on-site at championships and from home or office
