About the USGA: 

The USGA conducts the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open and U.S. Senior Open, as well as 10 national amateur championships, two state team championships and international matches, attracting players and fans from more than 160 countries. Together with The R&A, the USGA governs the game worldwide, jointly administering the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status, equipment standards and World Amateur

 

 

Golf Rankings. The USGA’s reach is global with a working jurisdiction in the United States, its territories and Mexico, serving more than 25 million golfers and actively engaging 150 golf associations.

 

The USGA is one of the world’s foremost authorities on research, development and support of sustainable golf course management practices. It serves as a primary steward for the game’s history and invests in the development of the game through the delivery of its services and its ongoing “For the Good of the Game” grants program. Additionally, the USGA’s Course Rating and Handicap systems are used on six continents in more than 50 countries.

Position Summary: 

As the first point of contact for all those arriving at the USGA campus and those calling the USGA Main Switchboard, the USGA Welcome Ambassador is a brand representative responsible for creating a welcoming environment, providing excellent customer service and generally supporting the transition of guests, vendors, VIPs and other visitors from arrival to their final destination.

 

The USGA Welcome Ambassador is responsible for clearly articulating in a professional manner USGA’s core mission, functions and services. The ideal candidate must have exemplary interpersonal and communications skills to ensure visitors to the campus are greeted and accommodated professionally, efficiently and with exceptional customer care.


What You Can Expect 

  • Greet and accommodate visitors to the USGA and ensure they feel welcomed and their presence valued. Accurately and thoughtfully respond to visitor questions about the USGA. Provide visitors with access to visitor amenities (e.g., water, coffee, etc.). Facilitate delivering visitors to their final destination. Assist visitors with travel arrangements (e.g., directions, car service, train schedule, taxi, etc.).
  • Provide support for on-site campus events including Rules schools, large scale meetings/symposiums, press conferences, events, etc. Support for activities includes setup, registering, credentialing and directing visitors to event locations.
  • Partner with Welcome Ambassador counterpart to address incoming calls to the USGA main switchboard. Warmly greet and accommodate callers and visitors to the USGA and ensure they feel valued. Accurately and thoughtfully respond to visitor questions about the USGA in a professional, knowledgeable and informative manner. Transfer callers to the appropriate USGA staff member and/or department as appropriate.
  • Perform special projects as assigned. Including but not limited to supporting administrative and general computer work for various USGA departments, Museum reception operations and executing data entry for Facilities related metrics and financial tracking. Assist with event planning and preparations.
  • Additional duties assigned as needed. 
 

What You Bring to the USGA 

  • Prior experience in hospitality and/or high volume receptionist position
  • Pleasant phone manner
  • Articulate, punctual, proactive, responsive and efficient
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Poses a professional and conscientious disposition with a focus on customer care
  • Ability to work as both a team player and independently without direct oversight required
  • Occasional overtime and weekend coverage required as necessary
  • Knowledge of golf and the USGA mission required

These lessons teach the science behind the USGA’s equipment testing, handicapping, and agronomy efforts.
