Position Summary: 

The Online Intern shall be responsible for providing online support – technical and editorial – primarily during championship season. Intern will assist in gathering and posting editorial content, such as stories, photos and photo galleries, as well as video.  Intern will be expected to assist with editorial and multimedia packages support. This position requires working long hours and/or into the night. Intern will also be expected to assist with the editing process of stories, as well as expected to assist in our social media platforms.  Intern should have the ability to pitch social media concepts, as well as think outside the box with stories/ideas when posting on social media sites. This position does not include travel, but there will be opportunities to attend a local USGA championship, i.e. U.S. Open at Merion or Women’s Open at Sebonack.

 


Duties 

  • Operating the content management system – writing, editing, proofreading and posting of editorial content.   
  • Building photo galleries to USGA Website and social media platforms.  Ensuring photo correlates with stories and captions when posted.
  • Assist with posting video to USGA Website and social media platforms.  Maintain video hub/content.
  • Assist with editing process of championship stories.
  • Editorial duties as assigned.
  • Assist with social media platforms. Monitor USGA/U.S. Open, Facebook and Twitter pages.  Ensuring all posting content correlates with USGA Story/Communications procedures. 

 

 

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities 

  • Required – 1-2 years experience working online, including familiarity with content management systems.
  • Strong communication and editing skills and self-sufficient with projects and assignments.
  • Ideal candidate will be a college junior or senior.
  • Knowledge of HTML, Photo Mechanic and Photo Shop preferred, but no required.
  • Person should be proficient at juggling a multitude of projects.
  • Familiarity with Twitter, Facebook and YouTube is a plus.
