About the USGA: 

The USGA conducts the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open and U.S. Senior Open, as well as 10 national amateur championships, two state team championships and international matches. Together with The R&A, the USGA governs the game worldwide, jointly administering the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status, Equipment Standards and World Amateur Golf Rankings. The USGA’s working jurisdiction comprises the United States, its territories and Mexico.

The USGA is a global leader in the development and support of sustainable golf course management practices. It serves as a primary steward for the game’s history and funds an ongoing “For the Good of the Game” charitable giving program. Additionally, the USGA’s Course Rating and Handicap systems are used on six continents in more than 50 countries.

Position Summary: 

The Enterprise Architect (EA) plays an integral role in building a holistic view of the company’s technology strategy, processes, and information technology roadmap. The architect partners with both business and technology groups to ensure that the proposed technical solutions not only align with the company’s overall objectives, but also ensures that both groups enable and drive each other to meet the needs of the company’s mission and vision.


What You Can Expect 

  • Build long-term strategic roadmaps for all IT Application and Data Architecture
  • Work in partnership with the Operations and Security Architecture Group to build out the overall Enterprise view of the strategic roadmap and associated reference architectures
  • Align IT strategy and planning with the company’s business goals and objectives
  • Seamlessly integrate business and service strategy into enterprise architecture roadmap
  • Partner with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions
  • Lead the design and modeling of tactical architectures for delivery, development, and support of projects
  • Partner with other IT and vendor technical resources to provide a consensus based, scalable, and adaptable architectural design
  • Develop and maintain policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company
  • Promote the use of a shared infrastructure and application roadmap to reduce costs and improve information flow
  • Manage and facilitate a review board to evaluate project proposals for architectural fit
  • Circulate roadmaps to align IT priorities with business partner needs
  • Drive innovative solutions as part of the overall strategic planning process
  • Additional duties assigned as needed
 

What You Bring to the USGA 

  • 8+ years of highly related experience required
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Engineering or related field required
  • Ability to “think big” and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology refresh and hype
  • Strong leadership, presentation and negotiation skills with business and technical groups
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus among many stakeholders
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology
  • Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate IT standards to meet business requirements
  • Experience building enterprise architecture roadmaps
  • Experience designing, integrating, and managing complex solutions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business, application, information/data, technology (infrastructure) and security architectural practices
  • Demonstrated experience with business process and performance modeling, benchmarking, and financial analysis
  • Experience with the Microsoft Platform and Programming language familiarity such as: AJAX, HTML, VB.NET, CSS, XML\XSLT, JavaScript, MS-SQL Server, web and Windows service development and techniques such as responsive design and familiarity with web standards
  • Understanding of ECM Platforms such as Adobe, Filenet and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of the practices of Golf and/or Sports industry as well as the non-profit business model is a plus
  • Experience in TOGAF preferred
