About the USGA:

Position Summary: 

The Director of Financial Planning, reporting to the Managing Director of Finance, will build and lead a customer-focused, analytical team responsible for providing financial planning to support the USGA’s mission. The Director partners with the Controller to oversee the preparation of the annual budget, long-term forecasts, strategic modeling, analyses of operating results against goals and will prepare reporting to enable current and future business decisions. This newly formed position will be required to develop systems and processes to drive behavior and improve future planning and financial outcomes. This dynamic and highly visible role requires an individual that develops positive relationships across the organization and is able to create an organization with solid financial acumen.


What You Can Expect 

  • Direct the analysis of financial information to evaluate past and future financial performance
  • Analyze the impact of internal and external factors on the organization’s financial health and advise business partners on actions to take within their business areas
  • Partner with department leaders to define, track, and analyze key performance metrics
  • Coordinate with the accounting team to integrate financial analyses and performance into the annual budget
  • Validate and analyze projection assumptions in order to provide Senior Management with organization wide multi-year forecast
  • Create financial models to track, organize and report the organization’s strategic initiatives and recommend actions to improve performance of the initiatives
  • Prepare financial presentations and various analyses to Senior Management
  • Lead  and implement changes to enhance management reporting and analyses
  • Collaborate with the accounting team for month-end and quarter-end close
  • Develop and maintain long-range financial models for individual department and organization-wide initiatives
  • Provide high level performance (dashboard) reports to Senior Management and Board of Directors
  • Consult with management using financial data and tools to meet their financial goals
  • Additional duties assigned as determined
 

What You Bring to the USGA 

  • BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required. MBA/CPA a plus
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in building financial acumen within an organization
  • Ability to evaluate the financial impact of decisions
  • Excellent relationship building and relationship management skills
  • Proven ability to partner, communicate and collaborate across multiple disciplines and organizational groups
  • Ability to effectively manage projects, change direction, and work within deadlines with a results oriented approach
  • Excellent financial modeling skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in golf and/or sports business a plus
