Position Summary: 

The Assistant Manager, Digital Media will be responsible for maintaining operational excellence of USGA digital products (USGA Websites and mobile sites/apps) to ensure an optimal user experience.  This position will manage quality control of all products, including design and functionality, and will continually seek opportunities for improvement.  H/She will collaborate with the Communications and IT teams in development, design, marketing and communication activities and will work to ensure products are relevant, up-to-date, accurate and functional.  This position will manage the analysis, measurement, reporting and forecasting of key digital metrics and will provide growth recommendations for Association priorities and campaigns.  H/She should have experience working with online reporting and campaign optimization tools.  The candidate will be strategic thinker with strong interpersonal and project management skills, and will have the ability to keep up with the evolving technology landscape.

 


Duties 

Digital Product Management

  • Serve as the Association’s quality control specialist and manage the day-to-day operations of USGA websites and mobile properties.  An emphasis will be placed on the Organizations enterprise website, usga.org
    • Monitor design and functionality to ensure accuracy, relevancy and favorable positioning within the site to create a good user experience
    • Monitor click through functionality and accuracy of links, graphics and banner ads
    • Ensure efficient removal and/or archival of expired content
  • Proactively engage with business owners to ensure digital marketing goals and objectives are accurately represented and optimized for each channel
  • Align editorial calendar with digital marketing efforts to create efficient and effective messaging
  • Support consistent user experience  throughout all digital properties to effectively build the USGA brand and drive engagement with golf fans

Analytics

  • Establish a consistent and timely reporting mechanism to evaluate the performance of USGA digital products, regularly monitor metrics and provide recommendations to guide business decisions
    • Produce weekly, monthly and ad-hoc traffic reports for key stakeholders
    • Serve as a resource to the Organization and help drive awareness of KPI’s that will support and drive goals for each department
  • Develop a robust digital advertising and sponsorship reporting mechanism to monitor campaign inventory and performance
    • Produce weekly, monthly and ad-hoc traffic reports for key stakeholders
  • Work with e-Commerce teams to ensure that proper campaign tracking systems are implemented to effectively measure marketing efforts

Digital Marketing

  • Manage the USGA’s ad serving network and ensure timely implementation, monitoring and reporting of internal and external partner campaigns
  • Work with external creative agencies to develop marketing assets and campaigns (e.g. banner ads, pre-roll, etc.) that drive traffic and engagement to USGA Digital products (e.g. usopen.com, U.S. Open Mobile App, etc.)
  • Monitor competitive landscape and assess marketing initiatives such as sponsor integration and digital innovation
  • Assist in creation and execution of website optimization strategy:
    • Research, identify and present new capabilities that will enhance current digital offerings or drive efficiencies (e.g. SEO mobile marketing, social media, etc.)
    • Work with development and communications team to ensure utilization of SEO best practices
    • Analyze search engine patterns to direct online placement of keywords or other content
    • Regularly maintain and update the websites search spotlighting functionality

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities 

 

  • 3-5 years of relevant or related digital media/marketing experience
  • A strong working knowledge of content management systems
  • Experience and proficiency in search engine optimization
  • Digital savvy with knowledge and comfort of the evolving landscape
  • Strong written and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in partnerships both internally and externally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Knowledge of golf and the role of the USGA is a plus
  • Must be available to address website needs during evening and weekend hours
