Position Summary: 

 

  • Interns are needed for multiple Will Call locations at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania for the 2013 U.S. Open Championship.  Will Call facilities will be staffed by USGA staff, volunteers and interns.The function of Will Call includes but is not limited to allow individuals  and/or corporate clients to drop off tickets/credentials for their guests to pick up when they arrive at the golf course.  Sale and distribution of Junior tickets and practice round tickets.  Distribution of complimentary Grounds tickets to various organization.  Distribution of complimentary and half price practice round tickets to military personnel.  Miscellaneous – telephone inquiries, customer service, etc.  Distribution of Volunteer packages not picked up at training. 

 


Duties 

 

  • Look up records in the Will Call database
  • Assist the volunteers at the windows – answering questions and handling issues when envelopes are not found
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all USGA Staff, the corporate hospitality staff, vendors, security et al.
  • Assist with entering envelope information contents into  the will call database
  • Accurately complete and attach the signature slip to each envelope dropped off.  Once the envelope information is entered into the database, the envelopes need to be filed in alphabetical order in the boxes located on the tables.
  • Periodically check the file boxes that contain the envelopes for alphabetical accuracy.
  • Answer phone calls received at Will Call from spectators and other Will Call locations and admission gates to research missing envelopes.
  • Maintain good rapport with volunteers as well as all spectators.  Be helpful, cooperative and courteous when dealing with the public.

  • Must be resourceful, presentable, courteous, friendly and organized
  • Basic computer knowledge to use the will call database
  • Ability to work independently and support the team
  • Diplomatic, even tempered personality - able to communicate and work well with a wide variety of people
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to accomplish tasks quickly and thoroughly
  • Ability to work long and strenuous hours (40 -100 hrs work week)
