North-Central Region

Brame is the Director of the USGA Green
Section's North-Central Region. He serves courses in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin and
conducts Turf Advisory Service visits in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and
Ohio. In addition to hundreds of TAS visits made since joining
the staff, Brame has written numerous articles and spoken
throughout the region, country and internationally. Prior to
his present position, Brame was an agronomist in the
Mid-Atlantic Region serving Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, Virginia and W. Virginia.
Before joining the USGA Green Section staff in
early 1990, Brame was a golf course superintendent for 18 years.
He has worked as a course superintendent in Guadalajara, Mexico,
Chicago, IL, Lafayette, IN and Indianapolis, IN. The decade
before joining the Green Section staff, Brame was the course
superintendent at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis. In the
late 1980s, Broadmoor hosted a Senior Tour event that initiated
his appreciation for championship conditioning. Brame has been a
member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
(GCSAA) since 1973 and the American Society of Agronomy (ASA)
since 1990.
He is a 1972 graduate of Purdue University with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy. Before Purdue, he
attended Vincennes University where he met his wife Rhonda. He
and Rhonda, (who is the office coordinator for the North-Central Region), live in Taylor Mill, KY. The Brames' have two grown children and four grandchildren.
