Matthew Lyons was chosen to travel in the Northwest Region this summer.  Matt is studying horticulture with an emphasis in turfgrass management at Utah State University under the advisement of Dr. Paul Johnson.

            Matthew’s introduction to the game of golf began at the age of nine when he started playing at Palisade State Golf Course in Sterling, Utah.  While in high school he worked on the grounds crew, and soon decided that his future would be in golf course management since it fit perfectly with his desire to work outdoors and in the golf industry. Currently Matthew is an intern at Willow Creek Country Club (Sandy, UT), which hosts the Nationwide’s Tour Utah Championship.   

            Matthew plans to graduate in December 2012 and become a golf course superintendent.
