Trent
Florida Region

Trent Tate will travel with the agronomists in the Florida Region this summer.  Trent is in his second year of a master’s program in plant breeding genetics and genomics at the University of Georgia.  His advisor is Dr. Paul Raymer

Trent has long loved playing golf and has appreciated the beauty found on golf courses, but, initially, had no idea about the research and development side of the grasses used on them. Trent became interested in turfgrass breeding while working for Dr. Raymer with his seashore paspalum breeding program, and immediately knew this was the career he wanted to pursue.

After finishing his master’s this August, Trent will work toward a Ph.D. in turfgrass breeding and plans to one day make an impact on the game of golf through research
