Steven Powers will intern in the Green Section’s Mid-Atlantic Region.  Steven currently is a junior at Penn State University working toward a degree in turfgrass science under the advisement of Dr. John Kaminski.

            Steven fell in love with the game of golf while in middle school when he got a job at a local golf course as part of the grounds crew. He has completed internships at Shackamaxon Country Club (Scotch Plains, NJ), Bayonne Golf Club (Bayonne, NJ), and Galloway National Golf Club (Galloway, NJ).   

            Along with traveling with the Green Section this summer, Steven also will participate in working for Dr. Kaminski at the Joseph Valentine Turfgrass Research Center.  He plans to graduate in May 2012 and become a golf course superintendent.
