The USGA is pleased to announce that Darin S. Bevard has been named
director of the Green Section Mid-Atlantic Region. Darin began his
career as an agronomist for the Mid-Atlantic Region in 1996, and was promoted to
senior agronomist in 2006, a designation awarded to those who have demonstrated
an outstanding commitment and expertise in their USGA Green Section
responsibilities.
Darin is a graduate of Penn State University receiving his B.S. and
M.S. degrees. His master’s thesis involved the investigation of
weed control in newly established turfgrass, and during his last year of study
was awarded the Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council Scholarship for outstanding
graduate work.
Prior to joining the USGA, Darin worked at several Maryland golf
courses, including Talbot Country Club, Old South Country Club and Harbourtowne
Country Club.
Darin will continue to work with Senior Agronomist Keith Happ in
providing the Mid-Atlantic Region with sound agronomic advice through on-site
visits to golf courses in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West
Virginia, and the development of multimedia agronomic education.
