They're Back! December 12, 2012 By John Foy

Increased mole cricket activity is being reported at a number of courses around south Florida as a consequence of the warm temperatures over the past few weeks. An interesting phenomenon is the concentration of tunneling activity and damage where mechanical edging of putting green perimeters and collars is being performed to control encroachment. With the onset of cooler temperatures, mole cricket activity should slow down. However, in the meantime, continuing with insecticide treatments will be necessary.

The Florida Region agronomists are here to assist courses with agronomic issues or concerns. You can reach Todd Lowe, senior agronomist, at (941) 828-2625 or, or John Foy, director, at (772) 546-2620 or
