  • Reached quarterfinals in 2015 U.S. Senior Amateur, losing to Steven Liebler, whom he defeated in this year’s Round of 16 to make quarterfinals again
  • Will compete in his fourth USGA Men’s State Team Championship for Wisconsin next week at the Country Club of Birmingham (Ala.)
  • Three-time Wisconsin state champion in high school tennis

  • 1994 and 2001 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion, the longest span between U.S. Mid-Amateur victories
  • Earned medalist honors in 2009 U.S. Amateur, at 50 years old the oldest medalist in U.S. Amateur history
  • Three-time low amateur in the U.S. Senior Open, recording the lowest 72-hole score by an amateur (282) and lowest round by an amateur (66) in 2009, when he finished in a tie for 11th
  • Member of the 1995 and 1999 USA Walker Cup Teams
  • Member of winning Tennessee team in 2003 USGA Men’s State Championship with Danny Green and Brandt Snedeker
  • Six-time Tennessee Player of the Year

  • Father, Jay was a golf professional and college coach at Texas Tech

Dave Ryan, 62, of Taylorville, Ill. (No. 29 seed)

  • Has competed in more than 20 USGA championships, but had never reached the quarterfinals until this year
  • Has competed in three U.S. Senior Opens
  • Six-time Illinois Senior Player of the Year
  • Recorded only the third known hole-in-one on a par 4 in USGA championship history during Tuesday’s Round of 16 on the 270-yard, par-4 14th hole
  • Qualified for his first USGA championship, the 1986 U.S. Amateur, at Old Warson C.C.

  • Finished second to 2014 U.S. Senior Amateur champion Patrick Tallent in the 2015 Seniors Amateur at Royal County Down
  • 2015 Maryland Senior Open champion
  • Lowest competitive score is a 66 in a 2013 U.S. Senior Open qualifier
  • Left the insurance business after 25 years to go to graduate school at Virginia Tech and become a psychotherapist
  • Works with athletes and their families to help them perform their best
